Grameen Communications and Japan-based Wick Co. Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop SPARK, a digital platform aimed at connecting Bangladeshis at home and abroad through technology, skills development, employment opportunities and financial inclusion.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the second day of Social Business Day 2026, according to a press release.

The agreement was signed by Yoshikane Nakamichi, Representative Director of Wick Co. Ltd., and Feroz Mahmud, Managing Director of Grameen Communications.

According to the release, SPARK will connect Bangladeshis worldwide through a digital ecosystem, facilitate skills-based earning and freelance opportunities, support employment through digital profiles and job matching, and promote financial inclusion, micro-investment and asset building.

The platform will combine Wick Co.'s technology expertise with Grameen Communications' grassroots network and experience in using technology for social development.

The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, who is also Chairman of Yunus Centre, Grameen Group Chairman Ashraful Hasan, Grameen Communications Executive Vice Chairman Nazneen Sultana, Yunus Centre Executive Director Lamiya Morshed and Kyushu University Associate Professor Dr Ashir Ahmed.

The organisations said the partnership aims to expand opportunities for Bangladeshis by leveraging technology and social business to strengthen livelihoods and promote a more inclusive digital ecosystem.
