Students from the Animation Track and Journalism Program of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) attended the opening day of The Second Studio Featuring Best Show Everest exhibition at Alliance Française de Dhaka on June 25, says a media release.

Organised by Dhaka-based creative collective The Second Studio, the exhibition showcased the creative and technical processes behind independent animation and visual storytelling in Bangladesh.

Founded by Oishik Jawad, Junaid Iqbal Ishmam and Rakeeb Razzaq, The Second Studio brings together expertise in animation, comics, illustration, game development, design and storytelling. Through the exhibition, the artists demonstrated how original concepts are developed into professionally produced visual works through a structured and collaborative production process.

A key feature of the exhibition was its presentation of the animation production pipeline. Students gained insights into the pre-production stage, including ideation, scripting, brainstorming, character and environment design, storyboarding and animatics; the production stage, where animation and visual assets are created; and the post-production stage, covering compositing, editing, sound design and audio engineering.

By displaying both the final works and the production materials behind them, the exhibition illustrated how each stage contributes to visual storytelling and animation production.

The exhibition also featured Dhaka Survivor, an infinite runner video game developed by The Second Studio. Originally created for the exhibition Cartoons for Equality: Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls, the game highlights the everyday challenges faced by women navigating the streets of Dhaka while demonstrating how interactive media can be used to raise awareness of social issues.

Lecturer of Animation track of the JMC Department, Ms Rani Ellen V Ramos organised the educational visit, which provided the students with valuable exposure to Bangladesh's growing independent animation industry.
