A meeting of the Governing Body of North East Medical College was held on June 20, 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr Syed Musa M. A. Kaiyum, Chairman of the Governing Body, according to a media release. 

Representing the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Rahela Rahmat Ullah, Deputy Secretary (Medical Education), attended the meeting.

Dr Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Deputy Director (Administration) of the Directorate of Medical Education, was also present as a representative of the directorate.

Professor Dr Mostafa Toufiq Ahmed, Dean (Medicine, Surgery, Basic and Para-clinical Departments) of Sylhet Medical University, participated in the meeting as its representative.

Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Sayeed Arfin Khan attended as the representative of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

Professor Dr Aminur Rahman Laskar was present as the guardian representative. Among the members of the Governing Body, Professor Dr Harunur Rashid, Dr Foyez Ahmed, Dr Mostafa Shahzaman Bahar, Professor Dr Kazi Akhter, Professor Dr Shamimur Rahman, Professor Dr Shamsul Alam Helal, along with other members, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, discussions were held on improving the quality of academic activities at North East Medical College, overall development of the institution, and various issues related to its interests and future progress.

Following detailed discussions, several important decisions were taken to further strengthen the development initiatives and ensure a more dynamic future journey for the college.

The meeting concluded successfully with the closing remarks from the chairman.
