The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting held on Monday night (June 22), chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A B M Obaidul Islam.
Several syndicate members confirmed the development following the meeting.
The suspended faculty members are Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah of the Department of Public Administration, Professor Dr AKM Jamal Uddin of the Department of Sociology, Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam of the Department of Banking and Insurance, and Professor Dr Mohammad Azmal Hossain Bhuiyan of the Department of Botany.
In addition, the university authorities suspended an official, Lavlu Mollah Shishir (Muhammad Lavlu Mollah), in connection with the same allegations.
Meanwhile, Professor Choudhury Md Tashrik-e-Habib of the Department of Bangla has been relieved of academic duties following a recommendation from the department's Academic Council.
He had previously gone viral on social media for singing, which reportedly sparked widespread criticism within the university.
