Daffodil International University (DIU) has secured a place among the world's top 100 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, in recognition of its contributions to sustainable development, social impact and global partnerships, says a press statement Wednesday.

According to the ranking, which assesses universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), DIU was placed 87th globally among 1,603 universities from around the world. The university also emerged as the highest-ranked institution in Bangladesh, ahead of both public and private universities in the country.

The achievement marks a notable international recognition for both Daffodil International University and Bangladesh's higher education sector.

DIU also ranked 4th globally in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting its performance in international collaboration, knowledge exchange and global partnerships.

The university achieved the following positions in specific SDG categories:

  • 4th in the world in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

  • 12th in the world in SDG 4: Quality Education

  • 48th in the world in SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

  • 68th in the world in SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

The rankings reflect the university's efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals through education, research, innovation, community engagement and international collaboration. The results also reinforce its standing as a sustainability-focused higher education institution in Bangladesh and South Asia.

University authorities expressed gratitude to DIU's faculty members, researchers, officers, staff, students, alumni and national and international partner organisations for their contributions to research, community engagement, industry collaboration and policy-related activities, which they said played a significant role in securing the recognition.

DIU said it would continue its efforts to contribute to the development of an inclusive, equitable and sustainable society through education, research, innovation and international partnerships, while working to promote sustainable development and prepare responsible global citizens.
