Quoting local residents, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjur Rahman of Natore Sadar Police Station said Kamal was a regular drug user. "He might have lost control after consuming drugs beside the pond at night and accidentally fallen into the water," he said, adding that they were investigating the incident.
In another incident, Motaleb Khan, 65, was found dead at his home in the Ray Amhati area of Sadar upazila around 9:30pm on Saturday.
According to family members, Motaleb committed suicide after slitting his throat with a knife.

However, OC Manjur Rahman said there were several unanswered questions surrounding the death, and they were investigating it.
Local residents said Motaleb had been involved in a long-standing land dispute with his co-sharers.
