At least 113 women were killed by their husbands in the first seven months of the current calendar year, according to a local independent rights and legal aid body.
The Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) report noted that a total of 322 women were victims of 363 domestic violence in the country from January to July of 2025. Among the victims, 208 were women and children, while 114 people died by suicide.
Of the victims, 113 women were killed by their husbands, 42 by their in-laws, and 33 by their own family members, it said.
Meanwhile, data from the National Women’s Protection Helpline ‘109’ of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs shows that between January and July, 48,745 calls were made seeking help against physical and mental abuse.
According to The Daily Prothom Alo's report, citing National Emergency Service ‘999’, from January to mid-August, 17,341 calls were received concerning violence against women. Of these, 9,746 were related to domestic violence, including 9,394 complaints specifically against husbands.
