The day-long Vitamin A Plus Campaign officially began in the areas under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Sunday, with the city authorities aiming to administer Vitamin A capsules to nearly 600,000 children by 4:00 pm.

The campaign was inaugurated by DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam at Kakoli High School and College in the capital.

Under the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign, DSCC has set a target of providing Vitamin A capsules to 590,538 children across its jurisdiction.

Of them, 135,606 children, aged 6-11 months, will receive one blue Vitamin A capsule (100,000 IU), while 454,932 children, aged 12-59 months, will receive one red Vitamin A capsule (200,000 IU).

The campaign is being conducted simultaneously at 1,760 centres across the DSCC area from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

To ensure the successful implementation of the programme, around 3,654 volunteers and 150 supervisors have been deployed in the field.

DSCC called upon city residents to actively participate in and support the campaign to help ensure a healthier and safer future for children.
