Algerian defender Aïssa Mandi has said that Lionel Messi may be the best player of all time.
Mandi made this remark about Messi following a match against Argentina, where the Argentina captain scored the first World Cup hat-trick of his career.
"What makes the difference is they have a player who doesn’t forgive," Algerian defender. "Almost every chance ends up in the back of the net.
"He’s a player, maybe the best player of all time, so that’s his efficiency, and it’s formidable. We knew it, we tried to limit him as much as possible, but it didn’t work."
With a dazzling hat-trick in Argentina's 3-0 World Cup win over Algeria on Tuesday, the 38-year-old Lionel Messi vindicated coach Lionel Scaloni's assertion on the eve of the match that he remains fundamental to the reigning champions, reports Reuters.
Exactly 20 years after netting his first World Cup goal, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner again shaped the narrative, moving level with Miroslav Klose's 16 goals for a share of the all-time men's scoring record at the tournament.
