A two-day international conference titled "International Conference on Appropriate Technology for Healthcare in LMICs" began on Sunday at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University (DU).
The conference focuses on the development and implementation of affordable, accessible, and sustainable healthcare technologies for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Bangladesh's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
Special guests included DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, pro-vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET); Prof Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU); Prof Dr FM Siddiqui, president of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh; National Professor AK Azad Khan; World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Bangladesh Dr. Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed; and Emeritus Professor B. H. Brown of the University of Sheffield, UK.
The conference was jointly organised by the Department of Biomedical Physics and Technology at DU, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at BUET, the Department of Clinical Oncology at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), BIBEAT Ltd, and the Relevant Science and Technology Society, Bangladesh.
