The government has granted normal retirement or retrospective promotion to 150 retired, removed, discharged and dismissed officers of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force.
Announcing the decision on Wednesday, the defence ministry said the officers will also receive their salary and allowances arrears and other financial benefits.
Former brigadier general Abdullahil Aman Azmi, son of former Jamaat-e-Islami chief and convicted war criminal Ghulam Azam, is among the beneficiaries.
Authorities said the decision was made after finding the officers had been subjected to “deprivation, injustice and vengeance” under the Awami League regime between 2009 and Aug 4, 2024.
