The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 508 people in connection with various criminal offences during its routine drives across the capital over the past 24 hours till 6:00am on Sunday.

A total of 50 cases were filed during the period, DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi said on Sunday.

According to the DMP, 52 people were arrested from Ramna Division, 23 from Lalbagh, 32 from Wari, 48 from Motijheel, 68 from Tejgaon, 95 from Mirpur, 53 from Gulshan and 137 from Uttara Division.

During the drives, police recovered 1.260 grams of hemp, 381 pieces of Yaba tablets, eight grams of heroin, and twelve bottles of foreign liquor, one sharp weapon, six sacks of different homeopathic medicine,  14 mobile mobile phone sets, Tk 22,000 in cash.
