Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Thursday said China would not oppose the participation of any country, including India, in the proposed economic corridor that links China and Bangladesh via Myanmar.
He said the corridor was originally conceived as the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor, but the initiative could not be implemented for reasons "known to all."
Speaking at a press briefing, Yao said the proposed corridor is intended to promote regional economic development, adding that China is keen to move the initiative forward.
