Bangladesh and the Maldives have reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen their longstanding bilateral relations and expand cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral forums during a phone conversation between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

Maldives' Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam recently held a telephone conversation with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and discussed ways to deepen the friendly relations between the two countries according to a message received in Dhaka on Friday, reports UNB.

During the conversation, the two foreign ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and partnership between Bangladesh and the Maldives.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest and underscored the importance of continued cooperation and close coordination at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.

Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam congratulated Dr. Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and conveyed her best wishes for a successful tenure.

The Maldives foreign minister expressed confidence that Bangladesh would make a meaningful contribution to advancing the work of the UN General Assembly under Dr. Khalilur Rahman's leadership.

The telephone conversation reflected the two countries' shared resolve to further expand bilateral engagement and cooperation on issues of common regional and global interest.
